I love a wedge salad. Romaine Lettuce, Bacon, Blue Cheese. What could be better?  But sometimes the wedge itself is enormous! Too much. I also love a BLT – Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato… what could be better? But sometimes you miss that delicious blue cheese. And don’t ask me why, but I also like stacked food. You can see where I’m going with this. In this simple adaptation of two of my favorite dishes, I bought romaine hearts and cut them sideways, placing a ‘slice’ on each plate. That’s the first layer of the ‘stack’. Ditto with the beefsteak tomato (I also sliced mine crossways also to make it easier on the eater!). Bleu cheese dressing, crumbles of freshly cooked bacon, and freshly ground pepper. The result? A simple ‘stacked BLT’ salad that’s reminiscent of both a wedge steakhouse salad, and a classic BLT. Throw some toasted bread, cut into strips on the side to serve as homespun croutons that will most definitely be used for sopping up that most decadent of dressings, the bleu cheese,

One thing I like about this dish is that you can really make this a much more manageable, more reasonable size than your average wedge salad. It’s just as delicious! BLT Salad
